Clippers and Edge Face Off At Millar College

Mike Callaway

Millar College

On Wednesday night, the Edge played their last game at home during the regular season against the Briercrest Clippers. Both teams came in to the games having played the Burman Bobcats the previous weekend and were looking for the win to help their placing in the Prairie Athletic Conference standings. The women tipped off at 6:00 and right away Briercrest came out with a strong shooting performance, and were seemingly unable to miss in the first half. That strong shooting performance gave them an 11 point lead going into the second half. The Edge made some adjustments at half and responded with a strong third quarter, taking the lead and keeping it, winning 74-66. Liz Lavoie had a strong outing at the point guard position for the Edge, earning herself the honour of Player of the Game.

The men followed up with the Edge looking for their first win of the year against Briercrest. The Clippers, however, were not going to hand it to them, coming out strong from the opening tipoff. They carried that momentum all the way through the game, winning 83-64. Zac Longstaff had his best game of the season for the Edge in the post and was awarded Player of the Game for the Edge men.
