The Millar Edge saw their first regular season action of the year as they hosted the Burman Bobcats on Thursday evening and Friday afternoon.
The Ladies were first up as they both struggled to score early. Millar was able to gain some traction as the game went on and never looked back, winning the game 48 – 21 and Britney Rempel earned player of the game honours for the Edge. The men followed in what started out as a highly spirited game as both teams were highly skilled and played with a great pace. The Bobcats found their legs in the 2nd half and grew their lead to win the game 103-80. Nolan Fontaine had a terrific game for the Edge and received the player of the game award.
The rematches followed the next day and the Ladies game was a much different story as it went back and forth the entire afternoon. The gap in the second half was never more than 8 points as the teams changed leads down the stretch. In the end it was the Millar Ladies outlasting the Bobcats in a low-scoring, 40-37 affair with Emily Budd taking home the player of the game award.
The Men’s rematch was the same pace but different story as the Bobcats stormed out to the lead and never gave it back winning their second game against the Edge 100-77. Bryce Parrott had a great game inside and was selected as player of the game for the Edge.
Next week the Edge head to Alberta to play the Prairie Pilots.
