Despite the bitter cold and winds, Millar Edge’s women basketball team made it out to Three Hills, Alberta for a pair of games versus the Pilots women team. Both teams were coming off strong performances from Week 1.
Friday nights affair was quite evenly matched during the first half. For the most part Millar was able to keep Prairie’s big three off the scoresheet for the first two quarters with some solid defense. Due to some unfortunate injuries to one of Millar’s starters, Prairie was able to control the second half, leading to a 57-36 victory for the home team. While Millar’s offense was dominated by Budd and Rempel who combined for 33 of Millar’s 36 points, it was the combination of Prairie’s Harken and Bublitz who combined for 41 points which lead to Prairie’s third straight win.
Saturday was not much of a different story for the visitors from Panbrum, SK. The Pilot’s had some extra help from their bench which was too much for Millar to keep up with. Again the Pilots were victorious with a final score of 55-31.
