Millar College of the Bible hosted PAC Provincial Indoor Soccer Championships this past weekend. There were four teams in each division: Sask Poly Saskatoon, Briercrest, Prairie and Millar. There were a number of games that required shootouts to make a decision, making it a very exciting tournament to watch.
On the women’s side, seeded 1st overall, it was the Sask Poly Amaruks from Saskatoon. They were to take on the 4th place Millar Edge. The game was very close, ending in a 2-1 shootout in favor of the Amaruks. The other semi-final saw the 2nd place Briercrest Clippers going toe to toe with the 3rd place Prairie Pilots. The Clippers took the win, sending the Pilots down to fight through the back door of the double elimination draw. Prairie and Millar took the court on Saturday morning, with Millar taking the win to stay alive. Briercrest was handed their first loss of the weekend by Saskatoon. This meant Millar would take on Briercrest in the semi-final to see who would play Saskatoon for the title. Briercrest would hang on to maintain their 2nd place seeding, defeating Millar, so it was Saskatoon and Briercrest in the final, with Saskatoon taking home the gold.

In the men’s division, the 2nd place Millar Edge hosted the 3rd place Prairie Pilots on Friday evening. Millar downed the Pilots 4-1. Saskatoon beat Briercrest in their first games of the weekend, which meant it was Prairie and Briercrest meeting up to see whose weekend would continue. 4th place Briercrest would upset the 3rd place Pilots, sending the Clippers to the semi-final. Millar faced the #1 Amaruks on Saturday morning, and the Amaruks would emerge with the 2-1 win. This sent Millar down to fight it out with Briercrest to see who would head to the final against the undefeated Amaruks. It was down to the wire between the Clippers and Millar, but it was the Clippers taking the semi in a shootout, 6-5. Saskatoon would take on the Clippers for the gold and the rested team would gain the victory. The Saskatoon men would complete the Sask Poly Saskatoon sweep of the 2018 Provincial Indoor Soccer Championships.
