Wednesday night the Briercrest Clippers and the Great Plains Sun Dogs met for the second time this season with the Clippers sweeping the Sun Dogs in the previous matchup.

Both the Clippers and the Sun Dogs put their best foot forward in the first set, going point-for-point. The Sun Dogs managed to pull ahead late in the set, forcing a Briercrest timeout at 19-17. The pace continued, with the Sun Dogs staying two points ahead, and Briercrest called another timeout at 23-21. Keeping it consistent, the Sun Dogs took the set 25-23 after a very close battle.

The second set saw the Clippers come back swinging, gaining some traction and opening up the lead, causing a Sun Dog’s timeout at 13-9. The Sun dogs battled back, tying the game at 14-14 and 18’s. However, Briercrest was able to swing the momentum, taking the set 25-20 after another Sun Dogs timeout at 23-20.

The third set was a nail-biter, as both teams put on a display of their skill. Briercrest had taken the lead and run with it, forcing a Sun Dog’s timeout at 19-13. But the Sun Dogs rallied after the break and came back swinging, causing Briercrest to call a timeout at 24-23. The Sun Dogs continued to ride this momentum and Briercrest called another timeout at 25-24, but the Sun Dogs were able to complete the comeback and won the set 27-25.

But Briercrest was not going to go down so easily and began the fourth set at a run, leading the game 6-3. However, the Sun Dogs were not finished, and took a 13-8 lead forcing a Briercrest timeout. The Sun Dogs continued to lead the game, forcing Briercrest to another timeout at 18-12, before eventually winning the set 25-21.

Player of the Game went to Arielle Freeman for Great Plains and Katelyn Annala for Briercrest. The teams will face each other again on Wednesday, October 30th.
