Athletes Brave Snow In Outdoor Soccer Tournament

Updated: Oct 10, 2018

Over 60 athletes braved the cold winds and snow to compete in Prairie Pilots Outdoor Soccer tournament. Men’s and Women’s teams from Briercrest College, Millar College of the Bible, and Prairie College all competed against each other at the Centennial Fields in Three Hills, Alberta. While the elements were against them, the student-athletes from each institution battled hard.

On Friday, September 21st, Millar Edge women squared off against the home team, Prairie Pilots, in this back-and-forth event. Ultimately it was the Edge who managed to capitalize on their offensive opportunities, defeating the Pilot’s 4-1. On the other field it was Millar Edge’s men that faced off against the Briercrest Clippers. Both of these Saskatchewan based teams placed an emphasis on defensive play however again it was Millar Edge that came out victorious, winning 1-0.

Just like the last time Prairie College hosted an outdoor soccer event, everyone in Three Hills woke up to ~10-20 cm of snow blanketing the ground but this did not stop the action. Prairie’s Athletics department got to work early, trying to remove as much snow as possible before the games started. Millar Edge’s women played Briercrest’s women in the AM game while Prairie Pilot’s men faced off against Briercrest’smen’s team. For the ladies it was Briercrest who defeated Millar, 4-1, and the Pilots and Clippers men had a draw, 2-2.  The afternoon games got underway at 1:00 PM and it was the Briercrest Clipper women who defeated the Pilots 3-1. On the men’s side it was Millar who “edged” out Prairie Pilots by a score of 5-0.
