Prairie Women Look Dominant Heading Into Provincials

On Monday evening, the Burman Bobcats from Lacombe, Alberta made the hour-and-a-half drive south to Three Hills to play the Prairie Pilots in the final regular season game at the RDAC. The final rankings for the Championship weekend were set prior to tip-off, making this game a preview of the semi-final game happening this coming Thursday out at Millar College for the PAC Championships.

It was a rough start for the lady Bobcats as Prairie’s offense was flying, taking a quick 20-3 lead after the first quarter. Unfortunately for Burman University it was much the same for the rest of first half, with the Pilots up 35-11.

The story for the second half was not any different as the Pilots high powered offense and tight defense continued to dominate. Burman also had to rely on a shortened bench as they got further and further into foul trouble. After 40 minutes of play it was Prairie taking the 76-19 victory, demonstrating why they are the top team in the league. As usual, Prairie’s “big three” of Nicole Bublitz, Sierra Nelson, and Sarah Harken were the main source of offense for the Pilots as they combined for 59 points.

The lady Pilots are looking to become back-to-back champions as they head east to Millar College for the PAC Championship tournament on March 28-29th.
